Citizen Science: come and help communicate science
WITH: Cristina Luís (CIUHCT)
WHEN: September 30, 2022; 5 PM – 12 AM
ABOUT: Citizen science consists of society’s participation in scientific research. Citizens are important to many projects, from biology to the social sciences, all over the world, and they fill a gap that scientists cannot reach. The contribution of the whole society is therefore indispensable! However, for society to know about the existence of these research projects that benefit from the collaboration of citizens willing to help, it is necessary for those responsible to be very agile in the way they communicate them. The European NEWSERA project is monitoring 12 citizen science projects in Portugal, which have established communication strategies, with the aim of reaching different target audiences. And that is also the purpose of this activity! Following several examples of projects, participants will think of the best communication strategies to make them known to various audiences. What is the most appropriate strategy for a citizen science project to reach society in general? And to industry and companies? What if we want to reach policy makers? Come and help us make citizen science a better known practice!
